We like Clunkmunk’s style for a while. As our idea with SHORTCUT is also to feature local rough diamonds, we caught Mert and Ali recently for a EDHID chat.
Where do you feel home?
In a club with people that are passionate about the music.
When was your first contact with music?
Mert: Kanun
Ali: my grandfather’s accordion.
Which was your first record bought and what memories do you associate with it?
First record: Barış Manço ‘Darısı Başınıza’
Memories: Cassette players.
Do you collect vinyl? If yes, which is your favourite record store?
We just buy few records which have the potential to become future classics according to our opinion. Online stores like www.decks.de are quite good as well.
What brought you to do DJing?
Steffen Berkhahn (editor’s note: better known as Dixon).
When and what was your first mix?
It was a compilation of our favourites at that time.
How would you describe your style?
Minimal, dreamy techno and house.
Which medium do you use to play?
Traktor & CDJ.
What are your favourite spots to play?
Küçük İstanbul.

Best thing: Connecting with the crowd
